Background

The research project iDESkmu (in short: inclusive DMS / ECMS and industry software in SMEs; further information on iDESkmu at https://italg.wineme.uni-siegen.de/?page_id=14 and www.projekt-ideskmu.de) is aimed at Maintenance and generation of barrier-free IT jobs.

In the course of the first field studies, it has already been shown that the topic cannot and should not be so easily limited to IT workspaces.

For this reason, we offer thematic project and final theses from the area of ”Accessibility”.

Task

When examining the working practice of the blind and visually impaired, previous studies have found that one of the difficulties in creating documents is compliance with formal and design criteria. In the professional environment in particular, it is generally necessary to create “orderly” documents.

Against this background, the working practice of blind and visually impaired people needs to be examined with regard to the challenges of “orderly” document creation. A possible support could be support functions in a screen reader.

Your task is to use suitable research methods to find out whether and which need “for professional document creation” with a view to decent documents, especially for the professional environment, to create and evaluate solutions.
